Folding@Home is a project that utilizes a distributed computing model in an effort to find cures for various forms of cancer as well as many other diseases. As an incentive to keep people folding, points are assigned to each user whenever they complete a work unit. The value of each work unit is based on the level of complexity and the system resources required to complete it.
Some members of SBD support the
BeefysWorld.com FAH team. If you would like to join us in contributing to this team, please visit the
Folding@Home website and download the client that is most appropriate for your system. When configuring the client, pick a username for yourself, and make sure to specify team 33272 (beefysworld.com) so that your work units get credited to that team.
If you are concerned about this program dragging down your computer and making it sluggish for other programs, don't worry. The program runs in the lowest priority state, so it will only use your unused CPU utilization. I have 2 copies of FAH running on my gaming computer (dual core AMD64) and I don't notice any drag at all...even when playing UT.
